It’s Birthday Party Time. Join Us for Saturday in the Park!

You may have heard the news already, but in case you missed it... Garrett State Bank is turning 125 years old this year. While we’re certainly excited about this all year long, to celebrate our birthday, we’d like to officially invite you to our party.

Come celebrate GSB’s long history of accomplishments and serving our communities with exceptional banking products (and hometown community bank service) with food, music, and fun! Mark your calendars for Saturday the 22nd of September and the party will begin at 5pm and continue until 9:30pm, all at the Eastside Park (801 E. Houston in downtown Garrett, IN). We’ll provide music for entertainment, food, beverages and more (like prizes)!

Yes, we said music! Check out the schedule of bands that we’ve got lined up (and be sure to bring your dancing shoes)!

  • 5 pm - Bulldogs

  • 6 pm - Rick Lindy & The Juke Box Legend

  • 7:15 pm - The Transit Authority (Chicago tribute band)

We will also have cash prizes and giveaways! So come ready to eat, listen to music, and have fun! Bring your favorite lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the day with us.

Celebrating 125 Years

The Garrett State Bank and the City of Garrett were named after John Work Garrett. John's father Robert Garrett had become a successful merchant and shipper in Baltimore and had extensive interests throughout the East. He stepped in to assist the financially embarrassed Baltimore and Ohio Railroad in several ways. Bonds were sold to finance the extension to Wheeling WV and his firm assisted in making various management decisions. Robert Garrett's sons, Henry and John W. Garrett became members of the Board of Directors of the railroad.
